Paris on Her Piglet: "She`ll Be a Perfect Addition to the Family!"
Paris Hilton is getting ready to bring home the other white meat: a miniature "teacup" piglet named Princess Pigelette, set to join her expansive pet posse. "It`s a girl!" the star gushed to Usmagazine.com at the Fox Reality Channel Really Awards Oct. 13 (where she won the Reality Innovator Award). "I`m getting her in a couple weeks. She`s still a baby, so she`s with her mom, getting ready for me. She`ll be a perfect addition to the family!"
TMZ reported Oct. 9 that Hilton, 28, ordered a litter-box trained "Royal Dandle" miniature pig from an Oregon breeder for $4500. "I found this really great breeder that makes tiny teacup ones," the heiress told Us. But she`s not the first in the family to tap into the pet pig craze: "My brother [Barron] has one," she explained, "It loves the dogs. They`re smarter than dogs!"
PETA is less enthusiastic about the latest addition to Hilton`s menagerie. The animal-rights organization released a statement Oct. 13 calling her a "wretched example" who treats her animals "as disposable as her friends and fiances . . . The Chihuahuas, ferrets and kinkajous she`s paraded through her home in the past were not accessories, and pot-bellied pigs aren`t either."
Hilton was quick to defend herself to Usmagazine.com. "I`m the most amazing animal lover in the world!" she insisted. "I treat my pets like children. I think it`s a lot better for the pig to be home with me than be made into bacon.
